In the Unknown...
In life we go through things that are exciting and things that are heartbreaking, but we also have seasons in our life where we don't know what is going to happen or we don't understand what is going on. These are the times that I call the unknown.
Have you ever had an important meeting you had to attend, but you were unsure of what the outcome was going to be? Or a job interview to work at the place of your dreams that you had no idea what the outcome would be? Have you ever moved somewhere new without knowing anything about the place or the people? These situations all involve unknown factors.
We may not know all the facts to every situation in our life when we want to, or even ever. But, there is someone who does know every little detail of our life and why we go through everything that we do. That would be God. He is the Creator of all things, the Beginning and the End, the One who gave it all so that we could live a life of freedom because of Christ.
"Lord, you have examined me and know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts before I think them. You know where I go and where I lie down. You know everything I do. Lord, even before I say a word, you already know it. You are all around me - in the front and in back - and have put your hand on me. Your knowledge is amazing to me; it is more than I can understand." -Psalm 139: 1 - 6
This set of verses reminds me how deeply, intimately, and individually God knows each and every one of us. If God knows our thoughts before we think them, the words we're going to say before we say them, or even where we will lie down, we need to trust that He knows every tiny aspect of our lives. He planned our lives out before we were born. He handpicked each and every one of us to be who we are.
When going through seasons in our lives when we just don't know what's happening or what's going to happen, we need to trust in God. He is good, all the time and He knows each and every detail of our lives - the past, the present, and the future.
As seasons of life come up where situations are not what you were expecting, outcomes are unknown, and you feel like you don't have it all together I challenge you to give thanks to God for what you do know and put your trust in Him that He will carry you through the unknown.
